PWESCR’s Leadership Institute in Women’s Economic Social and Cultural Rights is an annual leadership development program for women’s rights leaders (men and women) working for organizations from the economic South. The Institute, based on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), will be held in two phases each year. A weeklong training will be followed six months later by a follow-up session. It is uniquely designed for economic and social justice activists and human rights practitioners working on women’s rights in key leadership position in organizations/institutions to effectively use a human rights framework to drive change to address structural causes of poverty, discrimination and inequalities.
The Institute is open to all. Women’s rights leaders from organizations/institutes in the economic South in key leadership position with a commitment to human rights are eligible. Women, especially those who are working with the indigenous, the disabled, Dalits, migrants and other economically and socially excluded groups will be given preference. 25 to 30 participants with demonstrated proficiency in English will be selected. Participants are required to attend both Phase 1 and 2 of the course and are required to stay for the entire duration of the institute.
The facilitating team is composed of experienced trainers and prominent leaders who possess the necessary creative skills to foster an enjoyable learning process. The faculty for the institute includes:

The total subsidized registration fee for the entire institute (including Phase 1 and 2) is $2860 (€2200). This includes the course fee, accommodation for 15 days, meals and resource materials.
All selected applicants are encouraged to send their registration fee before January 1st 2011 as they will receive a 10% discount.
The Leadership Institute is supported by EED and Cordaid, allowing PWESCR to offer limited scholarships to cover the registration fee and travel related expenses. Participants who are selected encouraged to source their own funding.
Types of scholarships:
Category A: Waiver of registration fee (participants need to cover their own travel related expenses for both Phase 1 and 2)
Category B: Full scholarship includes waiver of registration fee plus all travel relate expenses for Phase 1 and 2 (the cheapest economic class flights costs and visa fee)
